I've never played a Civ game before so I'm completely clueless about the details. My friend told me to get Civ 4 since I have some extra cash to spend, but I also took a look at Civ 5's store page and a lot of people say that's very good too. I have another friend who absolutely loves Civ 5 and says it's so worth it. So, could I get some recommendations on which game I should get? Showing 1 - 15 of 16 comments. For a new player Civ 5 is the way to go. And I agree with Bullwinkle, once you go Civ 5, you'll probably never go back to Civ 4. If you know that iron mine is worth 7 iron you can pre-preemptively take it out to prevent the enemy from building up his army. In Civ 4 by early mid game almost everyone has at least one mine of every crucial resource which takes away that strategic aspect. Civilization V is a much deeper, more difficult and better game than Civilization IV, here are some ways the series has improved.

Happiness is across your empire. No longer can you let your small cities wallow because unhappiness isn't affecting your big production cities. Once your empire is unhappy your production drops dramatically. Store Page. Global Achievements. Asus View Profile View Posts. Showing 1 - 15 of 44 comments. Pinko Chan! View Profile View Posts. Some will tell you IV and some will tell you V. Personally I find IV to be deeper and overall the better game. And so we come to first place. The hexes and removal of unit stacking, both tedious relics, were a good start.

The changes introduced in its second update, Brave New World , make this not just the best Civ game of all time, but one of the best video games of all time. Ten years on from its release, and with a whole new game having followed suit, Civilization V remains the pinnacle of the Civilization experience, the most ideal balance between its competing systems and ideas. Your AI opponents are at their most charming. It handled intangibles like culture, ideology, and faith wonderfully.
