On a new car, it's a transferrable, lifetime, unlimited-mileage warranty.

Yes, the seller is going to make money on selling the treatment, but not as much as you might think. And besides, where's the fault in that? You probably spend more on cable TV or personal printer ink every year. If you're looking for things to get P. No , it is not like waxing your car a couple of times a year.

I have been detailing cars since the 80's and I can tell you I have worked with some of the highly rated and most expensive products on the market and most do not last more than months, at best , and carry no type of warranty. The ones that do, have very limited coverage. I have personally seen a Glass Coat treated new car with dried yellow road paint splashed down the side on doors and wheel wells, and it all came off the treated areas: some remained on the inside of the wheel well s , but obviously not as noticeable.

Also, take into account the cost of a full detail. You're already ahead with Glass Coat before you take into account that a detail typically carries no warranty whatsoever. If you detail your own car yourself and you know what you're doing, it may not be the right thing for you. Will the Simoniz Glass Coat peel? Purchased Honda Certified Ridgeline 3 years ago, front bumper the clear coat or glass coat is peeling in certain areas.

Beware of dealers, they will try and sell everyone something thats 3x more expensive then a private shop. For instence, when i bought my Gencoupe, i wanted 3m tape done. I've never heard of a wax thats good for years! A lot of these types of dealer up-sell items are GREATLY over exaggerated as far as how long they will actually last, but thats another discussion all together.

To answer your question, yes you can wax over the top of the 'glasscoat' its really nothing more than a basic paint sealant and as such you can wax over the top of it, and honestly given that you'll have the car exposed to salt laden air its in your best interest to wax regularly to add more protection to the finish. No clay or polishing for you though I tend to agree with you. After trying to after the fact do research I decided that we should probably start working on protecting the finish of the new Forester in addition to the GlassCoat.

The GlassCoat is some kind of a polymer I think coating. Will Adam's waxes adhere okay? Thanks in advance.

Yes they will! I haven't had any experience with the Simonize Glasscoat, but I have seen something similar called CQuartz. I doubt very seriously what they have put on your car will last for years and years. In addition it does give some protection against scratching.

With that said, it will only last for 6 months at most. In my opinion anyone who does not do offroading will not get their money worth out of the application. I've been using Adam's for about 6 years now and the paint on my Vette looks as new as the day I drove it off the lot. If you want to get the most out of your paint, watch the Junkman's videos. Wash it properly and keep a good layer of Americana on it at all times. You can't go wrong maintaining your paint.

I would not say you got ripped off, you just paid a premium for the dealer installing the product. That is fine, because it stopped the leak and I don't know how to install it myself.

You will get some benefit from it but not what they claim. Join the club and start your voyage into the Adam's addiction. Enjoy the new ride!!! The Adams wax will adhere fine over top of it. If you do not keep putting coats of wax over it it will most likely be gone in 6 months or so. My mom would not listen to me when she bought her Tribeca. I told her the paint protection from the dealer was probably over priced. After she got it home I convinced her to let me strip the dealer installed protection off of half of her hood and put on a coat of americana.

Her car sits inside most of the time. I then left her car alone for about three months until one day she asked me after having her car parked at the grocery store in the rain why half her hood had beads of water and the rest did not.

What was unsaid was that after one trip through a high pressure car wash the paint protectant, assuming that it had not been washed off by rain already, was going down the drain at the car wash. Thankfully they asked only once, then put it away when I said no. Do some research on your part. Check it out. You guys should be ashamed for shooting from the hip when someone is asking for GOOD advice. All the above advice, except yours, is excellent.

The product does work, it is NOT a wax but a permanent glass resin. It leaves a beautiful shine, which does not wear off, and is unaffected by some of the bigger offenders such as bird droppings.

Comparison to a typical wax job is just silly. Please back that up. Do you have children of junior high age or older? It will be as good if not better than what the dealer wants to sell you. When I was in 8th grade in , my dad bought a DeSoto coupe. There is no substitute for the ministrations of a professional detailer. The best thing you can do for your car's finish is keep things off of it. Tree Sap, Bird droppings, Industrial waste out of the air and many others all attack your paint and any protectant in varying degrees.

With proper care on a garaged car, sealant will last six months So the next time you buy a car and they ask you if you want their magical sealant, just say no.

In Simoniz actually changed the 7 year warranty to a lifetime warranty on new cars only. We do recommend this product to our customer and show them the 7 minute video that the history channels modern marvels did on the product.

We had a customer not too long ago who had one of their children step in bubblegum then get that gum all over the seats of the car.

The chemical to protect the seats worked and we were able to remove most of the gum.
