Why is vilkas trying to kill me
Reflexshift's solution while noble, did not work. I put aside the Fighter's Guild quest for eons, when I returned, guess who was standing out in the back ready to see "what this whelp can do". Besides, you won't be able to keep them for long anyway as the Companions will end up as your "followers" almost immediately.
Also - is it possible that you have a bounty in Whiterun or somewhere else for that matter involving a guard? The Companions will react to that.
